Manchester City Football Club (in short, Manchester City) is a professional English football club located in Manchester City. The football team is currently a member of the Premier League.

The club was originally founded in 1880 by the name of St. Marks (West Gorton), then became the Ardwick APC. In 1887 before changing his name to the Manchester City Football Club in 1894. The club has won the England Championship six times, the FA Cup six times, the League Cup six times and the European Cup for Cup Holders once. The club’s most successful period was from the late 1960s to the early 1970s, when it won several major trophies under the management of coach Joe Mercer and his assistant Malcolm Allison, and with outstanding players such as Colin Bell and Francis Lee. The club’s sunset led to two league losses in three years during the 1990s, placing it one year in the third rank of the England Football League system. However, the club has since become a top-tier league, a rank it has established throughout most of its history.
